Add / Edit a route

1. 1. Add new route

   1. 1.1 Go to the “List of routes” section and make sure that you have chosen the desired city. If your city is not in the database, open the city selection window, enter the name in the search bar and click "Add routes in new city X". In 2 days your city will be added in the database and all corresponding routes will be transferred to its directory.
   2. 1.2 If the route number is not yet in our database, click “Add new route”.
   3. 1.3 On the page that opens, fill in the text description of the route, following the format
   4. 1.4 Next, go to the “Trips” tab and add stops and a schedule of the outbound, inbound and other trip directions (if any):
      • 1.4.1 Find the starting stop and include it in the route. If there is no stop, create it in the right place
      • 1.4.2 Include stops in the trip one by one
      • 1.4.3 If the stop was mistakenly included in the route, it can be excluded
      • 1.4.4 If the line between 2 stops is inaccurate, you need to fix it using different modes of constructing lines
      • 1.4.5 Add timetables (schedule) for each trip
   5. 1.5 Confirm your entry and press “Send to moderation”. You can find a list of your edits in the user profile.

Done! Your update is now on voting. As soon as it gets the necessary number of positive votes it will be applied to the route on Wikiroutes website and its apps.

1. 2. Edit route

   1. 2.1 Find the route you want to change, scroll down and click on “Edit this route”.
   2. 2.2 All the steps are the same as for adding a new route (see above).
   3. 2.3 After sending to moderation, you will see your update with visible changes. You can edit your updates while on voting. All the votes in this case, however, will be reset.
   4. 2.4 If your update reaches 10+ positive votes it will be applied to the route; if it receives 10 negative votes, it will be rejected. Check for users’ comments until the end of voting — the community may help you fix the errors so that you update is accepted

1. 3. Other rules for editing routes

   1. 3.1 If there are duplicated lines in the city list of routes (with the same numbers), the route with a newer ID number will be deleted.
   2. 3.2 It is forbidden to edit inactive routes, except editing the location and name of stops, as well as text fields: Route type, Cities, Itinerary, Color, Transport Classes.
   3. 3.3 It is allowed to add temporary, one-day, school, shuttle, service and other types of routes.
   4. 3.4 It is allowed to add routes that once worked, but were closed and are not currently in service.
   5. 3.5 Routes that were once added on Wikiroutes after their launch plans were announced but then they never really launched, are not deleted from the site.
   6. 3.6 It is allowed to add and edit routes, the launch or changes of which were previously announced on the official websites of transit agencies or in the media.
   7. 3.7 If a route becomes inactive, it is forbidden to clear text fields or delete stops, except for situations when the data is updated to the current state at the time the route was closed.
   8. 3.8 Only official stops at which vehicles are required to stop are allowed to be included in the route. The fact that the transport stops in other places can be reflected in the "Additional information".
   9. 3.9 It is forbidden to create duplicates of existing stops for the sake of renaming or moving.
   10. 3.10 If the name of bus, railway stations and stations intended for intercity and suburban traffic does not contain the name of the city, the name should be indicated in the format: City (Stop). For example: New York (South Bus Station), Moscow (Central Railway Station)
   11. 3.11 The official language of the country in which the route is located always has a higher priority when entering any textual data for the route
