There are some commercial operators (KM Permata Obi, KM Barcelona I and KM Permata Bunda) which sail all the way from Manado to Ambon (Slamet Riyadi port just besides the main port) over Jailolo, Ternate, Sanana. The journey typically takes 2.5-3 days, and has sometimes plenty of waiting time in the ports it is passing. Not really recommended for the comfort, but the frequency and travel speed is higher than with Pelni. - Jailolo to Ternate: Thu/Sat/Mon morning
- Ternate to Sanana: Thu/Sat/Mon afternoon
- Sanana to Ambon: Fri/Sun/Tue afternoon
- Sanana to Ternate: Wed/Thu/Sun afternoon
- Ternate to Jailolo: Thu/Fri/Mon ~noon
- Jailolo to Manado: Thu/Fri/Mon afternoon

Basic travel are bunk beds with usually AC on that deck; there are normally also rooms to be rent (2-4 people) at a premium.
