There are some commercial operators (KM Al-Sudais 21) which sail all the way from Manado to Taliabu over Ternate and Sanana. The journey typically takes 3.5-4 days, and has sometimes plenty of waiting time in the ports it is passing. Not really recommended for the comfort, but the frequency and travel speed is higher than with Pelni. Mind that with all sea transport in Indonesia on these kind of boats there are often delays due to organisational disfunction, weather, ...
Depending on the number of passengers the trip might end/depart from Jorjoga/Falabisahaya instead of Bobong. Gela doesn't have a harbour and this is a sea drop off/pick up (2021).

Schedules departing from:
- Jailolo to Ternate: Tue 12pm
- Ternate to Sanana: Tue 5pm
- Sanana to Taliabu: Wed morning
- Taliabu to Sanana: Fri
- Sanana to Ternate: Sat
- Ternate to Jailolo: Sun
- Jailolo to Manado: Sun 6pm

Basic travel are bunk beds with usually AC on that deck; there are normally also rooms to be rent (2-4 people) at a premium.
