Daily ferry between Bitung and Ternate - takes around 18hours to cross. Take care as sometimes they skip a day for technical reasons (no boat, weather, ...). The boat leaves Bitung somewhere between 8pm-midnight, and Ternate somewhere in the afternoon (4-6pm) depending on the trucks (if it is full, it will go earlier, if not, it will take more time to fill up).
This ferry offers cheap transport, but is less reliable and comfortable than Pelni, but a higher frequency between Bitung and Ternate.

Payment here is now cashless (2022). The cashless payment is complicated: you need to pay online via transfer (indonesian bank only) or via (indonesian) flashcard (BNI, BRI, Mandiri, ...) The latter you can buy and top up in any Indomaret/Alfamart. An alternative option is to go buy the ticket in the nearest Indomaret/Alfamart and you can pay cash there (at a premium of course). With the payment slip you can enter the port where this paper will be changed to a ticket, with which you can board the ferry.
