Nepal

Nepal is a landlocked Himalayan country where transport is difficult due to mountainous terrain. This is a reliable place for motorbike hire. Choose from a Pulsar 150/220cc (Rs 600/1000), a Hero Honda 150cc (Rs 700) or a classic Enfield Bullet 350cc (Rs 2000). Book a day or two in advance. Taxis will most likely drop you off here at the southern end of the religious market. This is also a good place to find a taxi back to Thamel. Kathmandu’s main bus station (also called the Kathmandu Bus Terminal, or simply ‘new bus park’) is basically for all long-distance buses, including to Pokhara and destinations in the Terai. It’s a huge and confusing. Buses for the Langtang region depart from this stand at Machha Pokhari (Fish Pond), diagonally across the Ring Rd from Gongabu bus station. Runs AC routes to/from Kathmandu or Pokhara for US$20 including brunch. From Kathmandu or Pokhara it leaves at 7.30am; from Greenline’s stop in Sauraha, it leaves at 9.15am. Service is intermittent or suspended duri.
