1. Active or not
1.1 If the route is canceled or suspended for a while, uncheck the checkbox «Line is active»
2. Route Type
2.1 Select the route type «City» if the route operates within the same city
2.1.1 Also choose the type of route «City» if the route operates only within one or several small settlements that are part of a larger one. Or if the route connects them to this major city.
2.2 Select the route type «Suburban» for routes with a distance of up to 50 kilometers between the boundaries of the settlements that the route connects (the boundaries are determined by Google Maps) 2.3 Select the route type «Intercity» for routes with a distance of more than 50 kilometers between the boundaries of the settlements that the route connects (the boundaries are determined by Google Maps) 3. Cities
3.1 It is allowed to indicate only those cities within which the route makes stops (city boundaries are determined on the basis of Google maps)
3.1.1 Exception: If the route makes a stop near a metro station belonging to a certain city (for example, Moscow), but actually located outside of it (for example, in Krasnogorsk), it is allowed to add the city to which the metro system belongs to in the Cities text field.
3.2 If the route goes through a city that is part of another larger city, it is allowed to specify both cities. Example: Peterhof is a town and also a district of a larger city of Saint-Petersburg thus Peterhof routes also belong to Saint-Petersburg. 3.3 If the city through which the route passes is not on the site, you can apply for its addition by messaging us in FB group or by email at support@wikiroutes.info or create it by yourself (only for users level 2 and 3) 3.4 For every route type you must specify the cities in the sequence in which the route passes through them. The first and the last city in the field should indicate the places where the route begins and ends. 3.5 If a route of any type passes through the territory of a settlement that is part of a larger city, the priority is to include both of these settlements in the Cities field if they are found in the list of cities on Wikiroutes. 4. Transport type
4.1 Given the choice between a bus or a minibus refer to the classification established in the city. Or follow the rule: bus provides travel privileges, minibus — does not. 4.2 When editing a route, changing the mode of transport is allowed only in situations of bus -> minibus and vice versa. In all other cases it is prohibited. You need to flag the current route inactive and create a new one.
5. Number
5.1 For city routes
5.1.1 Line name in the format displayed on the headsign or on the stops. For example: 4, 99a, X55 5.1.2 If there is a letter in the route number after the digits part, it is indicated with a lowercase (small) letter without a hyphen. For example, 16a, 99b, 155h 5.1.3 For subway and monorail lines specify the name if any. Otherwise use the line number. For example: South Island Line; 15 (Nekrasovskaya liniya) 5.1.4 For routes that do not have numbers (for example, shopping mall lines), you must specify: n/n (first station - last station). For example: n/n (Metro "Kashirskaya" - Market "Gardener") 5.1.5 If there are duplicated route numberings within one city, in the «Number» field you should indicate in brackets the reference points that allow to understand the distinctive feature of this route. For example: 3 (MKAD), 22 (Zabki).
5.2 For suburban and intercity routes 5.2.1 Be sure to indicate the final settlements between which the route runs. The cities should be separated by a hyphen. For example: Moscow - Novomoskovsk 5.2.2 If the final stop is outside the city, it is allowed to indicate the name of the object to which the route follows. For example: 119 (Prague - Prague Airport) 5.2.3 If the route number is known, the final settlements are indicated in parentheses. For example: 465 (Moscow - Novomoskovsk) 5.2.4 If the route is circular, it starts and ends in the same city, and the intermediate stops are located outside of the city, you should indicate one of the intermediate settlements in brackets (the most distant / major / key)
5.3 It is forbidden to change the number (name) of the route 5.3.1 The rule applies to absolutely all routes, including inactive, one-day, temporary, etc. 5.3.2 For each number there should be a separate route 5.3.3 If the route number has changed, it is necessary to mark the existing one as inactive and create a route with a new number (or edit the route corresponding to the new number, if it is already in the database) 5.3.4 The rule applies to any changes to the number. Even to such changes as: 21a -> 21k 5.3.5 Exception: the rule does not apply to situations when the numbering principle of public transportation network is officially massively changed. For example, changing the number of commercial vehicles from "13k" to "13" or vice versa, or the numbers of the two-digit suburban routes to three-digit "20" -> "201".
6. Fare
6.1 If the fare is fixed throughout the entire journey, the full cost for a single trip is indicated when purchasing a ticket for cash. 6.2 If the fare varies depending on the zone, a range of minimum and maximum cost values or one of them is indicated. 6.3 It is prohibited to add any other information or symbols to the "Fare" field. Additional information can be specified in the "Additional information" field. 6.4 Please note that you do not need to write the name of the currency in this field, it is added automatically.
Valid format: 20; 20 - 50; from 20; up to 50
7. Transit agency
7.1 The name of the transit agency (public transportation company). If the legal form of the enterprise is known (SOE, LLC, etc.). The number and name of the park or depot serving the route can be indicated in brackets after the name of the carrier. 7.2 If there are several transit agencies on the route, they are separated with a comma.
Examples: LCC “Avtotor”; SOE “Gorobschtrans” (1st bus fleet); Stagecoach Selkent (from Catford (TL) garage)
8. Itinerary
8.1 The sequence of streets through which transport passes (separated with a hyphen). 8.2 For suburban and intercity routes, it is allowed to indicate only cities or cities + streets. 8.3 For off-street transport (metro, electric trains, cable cars, funiculars, monorails, ferries, etc.), instead of the sequence of streets, the sequence of stops should be indicated
9. Additional info
9.1 Additional route information for which there is no corresponding field or that does not fit in one of the existing fields.
10. Color
10.1 The color of the route can be set only if it is the official color of the route indicated on the website of the transit agency or transport authority. 10.2 The only sources of route color may be the official website (textual color information or route diagrams).
11. Payment method
11.1 Select from the list the payment methods or transport cards that are valid for this route.
12. Transport classes
Transport class – the size of the vehicle in terms of passenger capacity: the total number of seating and standing places. For example, the generally accepted classification in Russia and other European countries is 5 classes:
- Microbus: 9 - 12 passengers
- Minibus: 12 - 40 passengers
- Midibus: 40 - 70 passengers
- Standard: 70 - 110 passengers
- Articulated: 110+ passengers
13. Characteristics
Characteristics (route tags) – special features of the route, for example, night route, low-floor bus, availability for people with disabilities. In the case of long-distance routes: the availability of wi-fi, drinks, phone charging, WC and so on. Criteria for choosing route characteristics:
- air conditioning - air conditioning in the transport
- TV - TV (individual or shared)
- snacks and drinks - possibility to order food and drinks during the trip
- stewardess - service staff on the route (checks tickets, serves food and drinks)
- bicycle rack - transport equipped for carrying bicycles
- socket - public socket with a typical plug and voltage for the region (220/110 volts)
- USB-charging - the jack for connecting the cord (or the cord itself) for charging portable equipment
- toilet - toilet
- wi-fi - Wi-Fi network with Internet access in the vehicle
- night - a route that operates only at night (for example, from 00:00 to 05:00)
- summer - a seasonal route that operates only in the warm season (for example, from spring to autumn)
- winter - a seasonal route that operates only in the cold season (for example, from late autumn to early spring)
- school - a route designed for students only
- low-floor - transport, having a low floor layout, which excludes the need to climb stairs to enter the salon
- accessible for persons with reduced mobility - equipped with a device for carrying disabled people (ramp or lift)
- electric bus - bus that operates of electric batteries
- BRT - bus rapid transit - method of organizing a bus (or trolleybus) communication, characterized by higher performance characteristics than conventional bus routes (speed, reliability, carrying capacity).
- LRT - light rail transport, a regular high-speed extra-urban type of urban passenger transport.
- sightseeing - bus tours around the city, tourist route, sightseeing.
- ecotransport - an eco-friendly vehicle with a reduced amount of harmful emissions: electrical, hydrogen, natural gas
- driverless - driven without a driver, autonomous
- express - route with a minimum number of stops
- online reservation - users are required or strongly advised to book the transportation ticket online ahead of time (instead of buying the ticket at ticket counter or at the station/in the vehicle when boarding the transportation)
- premium transportation - More comfortable but more expensive service, especially when compared to other similar services of same type (for instance, bus/commuter train with all seating spaces with wider and more comfortable seats that charge more than other bus/trains that run on a similar routes)
