Octopus Card (Baat Daaht Tùng) is a reusable contactless stored value smart card for making electronic payments in online or offline systems in Hong Kong and limitedly in Macau and Shenzhen.
Valid in MTR, MTR Light Rail, Hong Kong Tramways, MTR Bus, Citybus, Kowloon Motor Bus, Long Win Bus, New Lantao Bus, New World First Bus, Star Ferry, New World First Ferry, Coral Sea Ferry, Hongkong and Yaumati Ferry, Fortune Ferry, some taxi operators, convenience stores, supermarkets, fast-food restaurants, parking, vending machines, fee payment at public libraries, government tolled tunnels and roads and many other retails business. The cards are also commonly used for non-payment purposes, such as school attendance and access control for office buildings and housing estates.
