Czech Republic

The Czech Republic serves as a pivotal transit hub in Europe. Its primary international airport, located in Prague-Ruzyně, was renamed Václav Havel Airport Prague in 2012. The country has an extensive road network spanning 55,653 km, including 690.25 km of motorways. The 1980s and 1990s saw a surge in road passenger transport, leading to a spike in accident rates. However, between 2007 and 2013, fatalities consistently decreased, reaching a record low of 583 in 2013 from a high of 1,473 in 1994. Despite these improvements, the fatality rate per capita remains relatively high, akin to that of the United States.
